British footwear label Kickers linked up with Newgen designer Danielle Romeril for a Spring ’16 collection of sport-meets-fashion women’s footwear.
Taking cues from Romeril’s vibrant yet relaxed aesthetic, the collection melds her style with classic Kickers silhouettes and iconic chunky soles uncovered from the shoe brand’s 90’s archives. The line is partially inspired by Vivanne Sassen’s geometric and chromatic photography, and features a range of sandal styles, including a sporty flat sandal on the Kick Hi sole and a mule on a block heel. Details like raw-fray cut work leather with paint speckled and color-blocked rubber soles, adds visual interest.
“I dug deep into the Kickers archives and was really inspired by the shoes of my youth. Pink lady lace-ups from the 90’s and vibrant green mules all on the chunky kickers sole really caught my attention,” said Romeril in a press release. “I wanted to vibe off the sub-cultural references that have made Kickers such a big part of the street uniform of my youth. The Danielle Romeril girl is pretty relaxed, she likes to throw on a pair of flats with a statement look and just go – she isn’t a ‘try hard’. So Kickers is the perfect fit from that perspective.”
Key styles from the capsule collection will be available to purchase in Spring 2016. The sandals will be complete with a Kickers fleurette and a bespoke Danielle Romeril fleurette, as well as a special edition shoe bag.
