Joe Jonas-allied footwear brand Koio introduced its Fall/Winter women’s line Tuesday.
Titled “Transformation,” it features six silhouettes “recast with a strong sense of modernity and elegance,” Koio said. Though the Italian company is primarily known for its luxury sneakers, the new lineup includes a chunky slip-on loafer; lace-up moccasins; new iterations of its Chelsea boot; and a lace-up boot. According to Vera Huang, vice president of merchandising, the Fall/Winter assortment marks Koio’s “first true women’s collection.”
“We focused on re-imagining classic silhouettes to make them feel bolder and more modern,” Huang said. “Familiar silhouettes like moccasins, loafers, Chelsea boots, and combat boots are elevated with platforms and lug soles, creating a fusion of classic and contemporary. We kept the designs in this collection clean and minimal, so the beauty of the Italian craftsmanship really stands out.”
“Transformation” updates the silhouettes of several classic Koio styles. Platform rubber-crepe soles feature in the moccasins and loafers. “Exaggerated” lugs ground the combat boots. The Fall/Winter line’s sneakers, meanwhile, deliver “more comfort than ever before,” Koio said. Colorways feature black, brown and white shades, as well as chartreuse, deep rosewood and lavender.
The collection employs a mix of textures, from glossed hides to pebbled leathers and plush suedes. According to Koio, the Leather Working Group (LWG) has certified its leather and suede uppers, ensuring each hide was tanned in a facility that manages emissions, energy, water and waste “responsibly.” Each design, it added, is handcrafted in small batches, lowering waste.
Koio debuted its Fall/Winter ’21 “Transformation” collection Tuesday. Prices range from $298 to $398.
Koio has taken several steps toward advancing its sustainable practices since last year. Aside from partnering with the LWG, it has also launched its resale venture Koio Vintage and introduced Koio ReCycled soles. The brand has also expressed its intent to become the “first regenerative luxury footwear brand.”
In June, Koio teamed up with singer-songwriter Joe Jonas to release its first celebrity collaboration. The iridescent, “Tron”-inspired Retro Runner featured the brand’s signature ReCycled materials in both the outsole and midsole. Koio priced the gender-neutral sneakers at $298.
