Merrell, a division of Wolverine Worldwide, has signed on to be the presenting partner for global Tough Mudder events. The outdoor footwear brand announced a multi-year partnership that includes the presenting sponsorship of more than 60 global events in 2016, and the launch of a new program called the Tough Mudder Half. The new concept will bring the mud and obstacles Tough Mudder is known for to a shorter-distance format.
Merrell’s sponsorship will coincide with the roll out of its first Tough Mudder-inspired collection, including an All Out Crush trail running shoe designed to release mud to allow the foot to move naturally and help propel on ascents. A TPU mesh coating protect the foot from the elements and allows for easy cleaning of mud and dirt. A UniFly midsole is soft to the ground to connect and cushion from the terrain for a firm foot and more efficient stride. Additional Merrell products for Tough Mudder races will follow.
As a presenting sponsor Merrell will also give every Tough Mudder and Tough Mudder Half finisher a lightweight technical T-shirt made with its M Select WICK technology, and will participate in giveaways and engage in on-site opportunities to connect with participants.
