Nike is shaking up its top-level management. The global athletic brand appointed former Converse CEO and Umbro president Michael Spillane to the role of vice president and general manager of global footwear, effective June 1, 2015.
Spillane will report to Jeanne Jackson, Nike’s president of global product and merchandising. He is currently leading Nike’s efforts to reset the market in Greater China, delivering strong growth and successful brand positioning.
“Michael is a proven leader whose vision was instrumental in driving growth in Greater China,” Jackson said. “As head of global footwear, we look forward to Michael continuing to drive our footwear agenda for consumers worldwide.”
Angela Dong, currently Nike’s CFO for Greater China, will replace Spillane as vice president and general manager for the region, where she will be tasked to create stronger consumer connections. President of the Nike Brand Trevor Edwards said, “Angela has been a key leader in our Greater China team, driving sustainable and profitable growth. Her proven track record and knowledge of this marketplace make her ideal for the role.”
