Nike Continues to Ride the Dunk Wave, Plans Six Spring 2021 Colorways

More than 35 years after the Nike Dunk first hit shelves, the iconic shoe shows no signs of slowing down.

Nike outlined its Spring 2021 line of Dunk colorways Thursday. The rollout will include six designs—five in the Dunk Low and one in the Dunk High—with release dates scheduled through early March.

The first three Dunk Low colorways have already gone on sale. Black/white, available in men, women and kid’s sizes; red/grey, available in men and kid’s; and “sail/coast,” exclusively available in women’s, debuted last week in Greater China. All three designs are scheduled to drop in Asia-Pacific and Latin America on Thursday. The same day, Europe will roll out all but the black/white colorway, which will follow on Jan. 21. The North America launch, Nike said, will occur in the spring.

Nike will roll out six new Dunk colorways over the next two months

Nike Dunk Low Black/WhiteTwo more Dunk Low styles will release on Feb. 11: “black/hyper cobalt” in men and kid’s sizes and “sail/orange peel” in women and kid’s. The Dunk High “white/orange blaze” is slated to arrive March 5 in men’s, women’s and kid’s sizes.

In addition to these six new colorways, Nike also plans to release an SB Dunk Low designed in partnership with Guangzhou artist Jason Deng. Arriving Wednesday, the Street Hawker draws inspiration from six regional dishes from as many Chinese cities, while also featuring a slew of other, subtly incorporated nods to Chinese cuisine.

The Nike Dunk—the hottest shoe of 2020, according to last year’s 2020 FN Achievement Awards—has featured in a wealth of Nike collaborations in recent months. Unlike the footwear giant’s new lineup of colorways, these designs have often swung for higher-concept designs, including a Swarovski crystal-embedded Dunk from rising streetwear star Cactus Plant Flea Market and the turducken-inspired TurDUNKen from Boston-based retailer Concepts.
