Nike is leaving other footwear brands in the dust not only in sales, but also in gaining new Instagram followers. According to the digital marketing agency, Stylophane, Nike gained 1,832,665 new followers in August, bringing its total following to 21,250,077. The athletic giant resonated with fans through its simple aesthetic and inspirational messages.
Stylophane’s recently published list of the 300 fastest growing footwear brands on Instagram for August 2015 was based on the number of new followers accumulated. Nike’s growth was almost six times that of the runner-up, Adidas.
Adidas added 310,457 new followers, followed by Christian Louboutin with 248,528. Rounding out the top five are Converse (206,051) and Jimmy Choo (186,986), showing that athletic styles are continuing to generate similar interest as designer footwear.
