Nisolo Kicks Off 2023 Expansion with Store No. 2

Nisolo is taking its boots, bags and more to the nation’s capital.

The Nashville, Tenn.-based footwear, leather goods and accessories brand chose M Street in Washington, D.C.’s Georgetown neighborhood for its second retail store, keeping company with brands including Faherty, Everlane and Warby Parker. Nisolo’s new store will carry its full line of shoes and accessories. The assortment includes women’s boots, mules, clogs, sneakers, huarache sandals, totes and satchels, as well as men’s boots, oxfords, sneakers, slip-ons, backpacks, wallets and messenger bags.

Digital-first Nisolo said the news represents the first of many new stores it plans to open this year.

With its flagship location in Nashville’s Buchanan Arts District, the certified B Corp said an expansion was a strategic move to put its products and philosophy in front of “trailblazers and policy-changers” with influence in the arena of environmental advocacy. The opening coincides with the one-year anniversary of Nisolo’s Sustainability Facts label. The ESG evaluation tool was developed to streamline third-party data and certifications from groups like B Lab, Leather Working Group, ReMake, Bluesign, Cradle to Cradle and Climate Neutral into a comprehensive and accessible physical format, which is presented alongside each product.

Consumers can scan a QR code on the back of the product’s hang tag to unlock a landing page with a key to how each category—from worker wages, payment and safety to carbon footprint, raw material impact and production impact—is assessed. Influenced by the food industry’s Nutrition Facts label, Nisolo said it aims to increase transparency and help consumers make more informed decisions about their fashion purchases. The company debuted the tool in December 2021, encouraging industry peers to use it to standardize sustainability claims across apparel and footwear.
