Opening Ceremony and Aldo Product Services Partner for Spring ’16

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

After countless memorable footwear collaborations, including with Teva and Chloe Sevigny, Opening Ceremony has signed a global licensing agreement with Aldo Product Services (APS) to expand its footprint into the category.

Business of Fashion (BoF) reported that the retailer has tapped the private label division of Aldo Group to co-design its footwear, with the first collection slated for Spring ’16. It currently produces footwear in-house and sells to more than 200 wholesale accounts. Under the agreement, the two companies will collaborate on sales and distributions and place an emphasis on expanding its wholesale network of specialty boutiques worldwide.

Opening Ceremony co-founder Carol Lim told BoF, “As a company, we are committed to growing this category and it was important for us to expand into areas in the footwear line that we previously were not able to access due to production constraints.”

APS clients span Shoemint, Target and Urban Outfitters in the U.S. to Selfridges, Schuh and Debenhams in the U.K.
