Reef is getting its feet wet with a new range of travel sandals. For Spring ’16, the surf footwear brand will launch the Rover XT, a cage sandal that combines its Swellular Technology with a fashionable, athletic-inspired silhouette.
The Reef Rover XT sports an entirely new outsole with saw-tooth tread for better grip. A textile mesh upper and a no-sew heel and toe-cap offers durability, and PU-coated heritage webbing protects the shoe from water and dirt. Meanwhile, instant comfort is delivered with Swellular Technology, Reef’s a multi-layered footbed with a contoured foam deck, a medium-density midsole and a high-density rubber outsole.
Tom Cooke, Reef vice president of footwear, said, “We made the outsole thicker with a more rugged tread pattern. When you stand on the shoe or sandal, it feels more substantial under your feet. It’s more durable and provides much better traction that translates to higher quality, and you feel that when you’re wearing the shoe.”
The women’s Rover XT features a Velcro adjustable strap and buckle clip detailing; the men’s sandal is equipped with a travel-inspired buckle. The Spring ’16 Rover collection will retail for $45-$110.
