Rudy Haslbeck, Birkenstock’s former director of product and design, left the company earlier this month.
According to Sportswear International, industry insiders said that the decision to separate was initiated by Birkenstock, as the company works on further developing its product and quality.
It remains unclear whether Haslbeck’s position will be filled. Yvonne Piu, the executive director of marketing and product development, will now be working on creating product, including unlocking higher and lower-end products, Sportswear International reported.
Jochen Gutzy, head of communications, said in a statement to Sportswear International, “Fashionable makeovers keep our brand young and fresh, but our growth is mainly driven by long-term strategical measures.”
