Shoe Surgeon and Nahmias Team on Hyper-Limited Custom Converse 70

A new custom sneaker reimagines the classic Converse 70 to include refined materials and inspirational messaging.

Dominic Ciambrone, the sneaker artist known as the Shoe Surgeon, teamed with apparel brand Nahmias to create a hyper-limited sneaker, available in both low- and high-top versions. Only 77 pairs will be made.

Named the Dawn 70, the shoe is featured in Nahmias’ short promotional film entitled “Dawn Patrol,” which premiered on Aug. 12. The shoe features silk jacquard paisley tongues, silk shoelaces, platform soles and the words “patience” and “miracle”—words often used by the brand when sharing its founding story—laser-engraved on the toe. Conversely, on the heel are the words “kick rocks.”

The Nahmias x TSS Dawn 70 Low, $1,000, and the Dawn 70 High, $1,250, are now available on the Nahmias website. Each pair is customized and reworked from a stock Converse 70. Due to the customization process—and sourcing requirements that go into finding the appropriate size and style—turnaround time is 6-8 weeks from when the order is placed.

Ciambrone’s company Surgeon Studios was founded in 2013 as an L.A.-based creative collective built on the craft of custom shoe making. Since then, commercial footwear companies such as Nike and Adidas have also offered customization opportunities, offering apps and in-store 3D personalization activations that empower customers to create a one-of-a-kind style.
