Steve Madden Launches ‘Self Made Collection’

Steve Madden last week launched its “Self Made Collection,” a fall collection for men styled after the brand’s namesake founder.

Billed as a “reflection of Steve himself, the Self Made Capsule Collection is masculine, cool, and impossibly authentic,” according to its website. “Made from hand-finished genuine leather, it’s a nod to Steve and our treasured brand heritage.”

The collection ranges from boots to loafers and dress shoes, and retails between $100 and $190.

Described as “trend-right and ultra-versatile,” the collection emphasizes it qualities of being “masculine, timeless and handmade.”

Its Sufraget oxford-sneaker combination, for example, exemplifies that versatility. Oxford on top and sneaker on the bottom, Madden encourages guys to trade in their standard oxfords for “a playful take on the traditional lace-up by incorporating a striped rubber flatform sole.”

Its Scotto lace-up derby shoe is portrayed “as dapper as it is durable,” and its lace-up leather Joeey boot described as “a wardrobe essential for well-dressed dudes” with “all-American good looks and an ultra-functional design.”

Madden’s lace-up Smoky boot “comes street-ready and distressed for a well-worn feel,” and “a backless loafer with an extra-chunky lug sole, the Rebell mule is at once relaxed and rugged.”

Even for men who may want to add an extra inch or two to their height, Madden’s “thickly soled” Sayne platform lace-up boot “will add inches to your frame in a tasteful manner.”

“Steve wanted to build a collection of shoes that every guy wants to wear,” explains the collection’s website, at Stevemadden.com/selfmadecollection. “All shoes and boots in the collection have leather uppers, unique outsoles, and are designed to look better over time with wear and tear.”
