The Sak is rolling out its first limited distribution collection of all-leather handbags this fall for retailers that run a better and regular price business.
The line, which includes a messenger, hobo, satchel, tote, backpack and crossbody, will retail for $150-$229, approximately 50 percent more than the standard line. Bags are distinguished with custom hardware and vegetable tan leathers.
Other souped-up details unique to the collection include whip stitch trims, jewelry-inspired rivets, zipper pulls with special messages, watercolor-inspired lining and turquoise embellished mandalas.
The brand has seen for some time that its core customer is willing to pay more for its handbags. The Sak Brand Merchant Matt Talucci said its highest ticketed items are also its fastest selling items. “We are seeing our biggest increase in retail sales in items that are 70% higher than our average unit retails,” he explained.
Retailers are asking for the elevated product, too. While The Sak’s signature crochet fabrications remain a large part of its business, Talucci said retailers are happy with the higher price points, noting that several have asked the brand to increase its assortment of better leather handbags.
