Nike Basketball is spreading a yuletide cheer on the court with its annual Nike Basketball Christmas Collection. Keeping the tradition alive, this year’s pack includes Kobe Bryant’s KOBE 9, Kevin Durant KD 7, and Lebron James’ LEBRON 12, which will be worn by the three athletes on Christmas Day.
Candy canes and stockings serve as the inspiration for the KOBE 9 Knit Stocking, which marks the entry of Nike’s Flyknit technology into basketball. The shoe gets a festive makeover with red and white knit uppers and a marbled outsole resembling candy canes.
Durant’s KD 7 Egg Nog is a nod to the NBA star’s favorite holiday beverage. The cream and red sneaker features Nike’s Flywire technology, Zoomair cushioning and Hyperposite construction. Glossy flecks accent the shoe’s Hyperposite heel to emulate the condensation on a glass of chilled egg nog.
The Akron Birch, James’ one-of-a-kind style developed in the Nike Sport Research Lab, is an ode to Ohio winters with an emerald green base that blends with the shoes photo-real camouflage and birch tree patterns. A subtle snowflake dots the shoe’s tongue loop.
The Christmas pack will make its court debut on Christmas Day. It will be available on Nike.com and in select retail locations on Dec. 26.
