Actress, singer, trendsetter and now shoe designer, Zendaya, unveiled her Daya by Zendaya collection on Monday at FN Platform. The starlet and her stylist Law Roach have teamed up with Titan Industries to produce the line. True to the young fashion icon’s personal style, the Spring ’16 collection is fresh, on-trend and full of surprises.
Here, Zendaya dishes about her favorite looks and the steps she has taken to make her footwear dream come true.
FN Platform at Magic: Tell us a little bit about the line, Daya, and what we can expect to see this coming spring?
Zendaya: As you know, this is our first collection debuting this spring. You can expect to see options, options, options! We have a lot of sandals, wedges, and even our version of the classic pump.
FN Platform at Magic: What was your inspiration for these designs? Is there a specific woman you’re designing for?
Zendaya: I was inspired by women. My stylist, Law and I really wanted to design for every woman from the girl who needs shoes for her high school dance or her first date, to my sporty girls who don’t wear heels and flats for my busy moms. Again, something for every woman.
FN Platform at Magic: What are some of your favorite footwear trends of the moment?
Zendaya: I really, really love the classic pump. I think it’s a shoe that can be worn with anything. I wear mine in my everyday life and on the red carpet.
FN Platform at Magic: Any favorite pieces from the upcoming collection?
Zendaya: I’m obsessed with every single piece! Every shoe has a piece of me in it. I know it sounds cliché but it’s just like asking a parent to pick a favorite child. It’s impossible for me to pick a favorite.

FN Platform at Magic: How did this brand partnership come about?
Zendaya: We put it out there that we wanted to create a collection of shoes and we took a couple of meetings. After we met with Joe from Titan, we just knew it was the right choice. We felt like we were doing business with family, and that’s exactly how it’s been so far.
FN Platform at Magic: What are you most excited to see at Magic?
Zendaya: I’ve never actually been Magic. Funny, I’m most excited to see people’s reaction to the collection. Of course I plan to sneak away to see other collections that I’ve never heard of as well as those that are familiar to me.
FN Platform at Magic: Why did you choose to launch the collection at FN Platform at Magic specifically?
Zendaya: FN Platform at Magic is, in my opinion, the best place for designers to bring their collections to be seen by thousands of people.
FN Platform at Magic: Anything else you want your fans to know about the upcoming collection?
Zendaya: Like I said before, I designed this collection for every woman. Whether you’re a girly girl or a tomboy, Daya’s got you covered!
