While much has been made of sourcing moving out of China to neighboring countries, the country is still a top choice for many in the footwear industry.
Sourcing in China is still the easy choice for Fila. At FDRA’s Impact Summit, Fila Global Development and Sourcing Director Joe Passio said, “A centralized development strategy has really worked for us. We really see that China is kind of ‘The New China,’ it’s still a viable resource for us to develop.”
While neighbors such as Vietnam are offering companies lower-cost options, for Fila, other countries have yet to offer the same benefits China does.
“From the perspective of the new places, we’ve been there and looked around, but we really haven’t found an opportunity anywhere else that provides what China provides. China has been great for us,” Passio said.
