Finish Line Looks to Bounce Back with New Executive VP

After news came earlier this year that Finish Line had replaced its CEO, the footwear retailer announced another change in top management.

John Hall, long-time Nordstrom executive who most recently served as vice president of Rack Menswear, has been brought on as Finish Line’s new executive vice president, divisional president, and chief merchandising officer, starting in mid-May.

“We’re thrilled to have John join Finish Line. He will play a pivotal role as we continue to strengthen consumer engagement and enhance our merchandise offering and brand storytelling,” said Sam Sato, CEO of Finish Line in a statement. “John’s focus and drive to elevate the consumer experience are critical today when the customer – and how he or she accesses us – is evolving so rapidly.”

Hall comes on at a time when Finish Line is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2015, which saw same-store sales at the company’s stores drop 6 percent. In January, Finish Line announced it would be closing 150 locations, or about 25 percent of its stores, over the next four years. The Indianapolis-based retailer has blamed supply chain issues for many of its woes, although that didn’t stop them from replacing former CEO Glenn Lyon in February.
