Fire Severely Damages Sportie LA

A fire broke out at Los Angeles-based sneaker shop Sportie LA Thursday morning, leaving the store severely damaged.

The fire began shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday morning in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, beginning outside before making contact with the building. Although media outlets have reported that the fire took place at Sportie LA’s original 7753 Melrose Ave. location, the fire actually occurred at the chain’s newest store, located at 7366 Melrose.

Isack Fadlon, owner of Sportie LA, told Vamp that store surveillance cameras caught two individuals starting the fire outside the shop, although it’s unclear if the fire was intentional or simply burned out of control.

Although no one was injured, Faldon called the damage from the fire “quite substantial,” saying that much of the building and “virtually all” of the shop’s stock was consumed by the blaze.

“The LAFD responded and contained it so that it did not move to either side of our store, it just engulfed our store,” he told Vamp. “We are so fortunate that no one was hurt. It was so difficult to watch our store go up in flames.”

Sportie LA, a Los Angeles institution, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, which included the launch of the new 7366 Melrose location.
