Summer has arrived, and with it comes an innate desire to shop for espadrilles. This summer, platform espadrilles are piping hot, with tastemakers pining for the comfort and coolness of a sneaker and the summertime vibes of a sandal.
The trend is in its early stages, but Rank & Style has already narrowed the selection online down to 10 must-have styles by the likes of Steve Madden, Miu Miu and more.
Vince’s ‘Edie’ platform espadrille sandal and ‘Sophie’ espadrille wedge sandal top the list for their minimalist and wearable designs. The sandals come in classic colors, including bone and a cheery rhubarb red, perfect for Fourth of July celebrations.
Playful lace-up espadrilles by Loeffler Randall ranked second. The brand’s ‘Alfie’ fashion sneakers key into the to athleisure trend by pairing bold black stripes and perforated white uppers with platform bottoms. Christian Louboutin’s studded ‘Cataclou’ platform espadrilles nabbed third place with its python-embossed leather, gold hardware and just a sliver of au natural jute on the heel.
In contrast, fourth place Prada, with its open-toe leather espadrilles, incorporated a heap of braided jute to its slip-on silhouette, followed by fifth place Schutz, which took a more traditional approach with its ‘Dominick’ wedge espadrilles. The sandal’s rich gold hardware brings out the warmth of the cognac leather straps.
Franco Sarto’s ‘Lariza’ espadrille platform sandal ranked sixth. Delicate ankle straps balance the sandal’s metallic and tribal print uppers. Likewise, Soludos earns its seventh place spot for the feminine ankle ties on its leather wedge espadrilles.
Miu Miu, with its Space Age-inspired designs (think chunky glitter uppers and silver metallic leather), Manebi Formentera’s wildly colored platform slip-ons in hot hues of orange, and Steve Madden’s metallic exotics rounded out the list, packing a punch of fun to the seasonal favorite.
Rank & Style streamlines the online shopping search and review process by using an algorithm to create top ten lists based on their own data and data culled from trusted sources, including department stores, social media, blogs and magazines.
