Meijer to Open More Skechers Concept Shops

Meijer announced Thursday plans to expand its shop-in-shop concept with Skechers to four more stores located in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin beginning this week. The new shop-in-shops will offer customers the opportunity to shop for more than 200 Skechers shoe styles for the entire family.

Meijer has stocked Skechers for more than a decade and has become one of the shoe brand’s largest retailers in the Midwest. In March, the superstore opened its first Skechers concept store inside its Knapp’s Corner store in Grand Rapids, MI. The 804-square-foot pilot was designed to enhance the shoe-buying experience for its customers with Skechers branded video screens to present product information, news and styling inspiration. The retailer said it plans to open “dozens” more in the future.

“Skechers remains a very popular national shoe brand for our customers, who are looking for style and fit at an affordable price,” said Glen Reinart, Meijer divisional merchandise manager of shoes, jewelry and accessories. “Their designs and technology are kept fresh and appeal to all ages. These concept shops are a perfect way for our customers to easily find the Skechers style and fit that matches their lifestyle.”

Grand opening celebrations, featuring giveaways and shoe experts from Meijer and Skechers, will be held at each of the new concept shops:

  • Sept. 26 at the Greenwood, IN Meijer store
  • Oct. 3 at the Midland, MI Meijer store
  • Oct. 10 at the Marysville, OH Meijer store
  • Oct. 17 at the Grafton, WI Meijer store
