Meijer to Open Skechers’ Largest Shop-In-Shop

In an ongoing effort to increase its fashion profile, Midwest-based retailer Meijer is incorporating a Skechers concept shop inside its Knapps’ Corner location in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The 804-square-foot space, slated to open March 21, is Skeckers’ largest shop of its kind within a retailer. More than 200 of its latest styles for men, women and children will be available, offering families a convenient place to shop for footwear together.

“Meijer has been a strong Skechers partner for many years, so we’re thrilled to expand our retail presence in their stores with this new shop in shop concept,” said Rick Graham, Skechers senior vice president of domestic sales. “It will showcase the Skechers brand with impactful visual displays, and create an accessible environment that is easy for customers to shop in. Working with great partners like Meijer has elevated our business and we’re excited to experience the positive results from this store remodel.”

The pilot project may be incorporated into other remodeled Meijer stores and future new stores. Since December 2013, Meijer, which operates 213 supercenters throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky, has been rolling out store redesigns with a better-defined fashion department and more stylish apparel collections.
