The Italian footwear industry is vying to increase business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland at the 44th edition of Moda Made In Italy set to take place in Munich, Germany March 6-8. The event will showcase Fall ’16 collections from over 250 medium to high-end Italian-made and European-made brands.
The region is a bright spot for Italian-made footwear. Assocalzaturifici, the Italian footwear manufacturers’ association, reported footwear exports to Germany grew two percent the first ten months of 2014 to 28.5 million pair.
While a slowdown in growth is expected, Assocalzaturifici said it is encouraged by news that the average price of exported footwear to Germany increased 5.7% from January to October 2014. The association said the price increase confirms a steady trend that high-end Italian-made footwear is increasingly well received by the German market.
