Saks Fifth Avenue officially opened its new lower Manhattan location on Friday—the company’s second New York City store. Located at the newly-expanded Brookfield Place, the Saks Downtown locale will carry women’s apparel with an emphasis on new designers.

Spread across three floors, each level has its own theme that Saks describes as a “lifestyle edit” for the modern woman shopper. Ready-to-wear and accessories will be housed on level one, while contemporary and more forward-thinking designers will feature on level two. Level three, meanwhile, will serve as a re-imagined Fifth Avenue Club for styling consultations, boasting five private rooms and two VIP suites.

“Saks Downtown marks a new vision for the brand. The focus is on our edit, bringing new depth to our emerging and advanced designer assortment,” said Chief Merchant Tracy Margolies in a press release.

Saks Downtown is the first of several planned store openings and renovations the upscale department chain has lined up for the New York metro area. A dedicated Saks Downtown men’s store is in the pipeline for spring 2017, followed by a massive renovation to the company’s flagship Fifth Avenue location set to finish in 2019. There will also be three new The Saks Shops at Greenwich stand-alone store openings, including the opening of 10022-SHOE, a dedicated shoe boutique, on Oct. 20.

“Saks Downtown may be our second store in NYC, but it is the first of its kind. The design is open, the edit is unique, and it’s quite simply fun to shop,” said Saks President Marc Metrick.
