Sports Authority to Hire 3,500 Seasonal Workers

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

Sports Authority is preparing for the holiday sneaker rush. The sporting goods retailer announced it will hire 3,500 temporary workers at locations across the country to help meet consumer demand for the upcoming holiday season.

Hiring will begin in mid-October and will continue into December, after which point Sports Authority says it will convert hundreds of seasonal employees into permanent team members.

Starting this year seasonal employees will also have access to Sports Authority’s employee discount program, in addition to other benefits available to current team members.

“We are so excited to provide jobs for applicants seeking temporary, as well as part-time employment during the holidays,” said Robert Gordon, Sports Authority senior vice president. “At Sports Authority, we want to ensure every single customer has the best shopping experience around and this will be made possible with the extra hands joining us for the holidays. Our team is our greatest asset and I look forward to the future applicants joining us,” he added.
