Zappos Introduces Rewards Program

Online footwear retailer Zappos.com announced the introduction of its first-ever rewards program.

The progression-based program will allow customers to earn rewards points towards future purchases, get free expedited shipping on all orders, and receive early access to exclusive products and sales.

Zappos claims to be the only footwear retailer offering free 2-business day and free 1-business day shipping on all orders with no membership fees or minimum order values. Other footwear retailer rewards programs, including those by Payless, DSW and Famous Footwear all also offer free shipping, though not free 1-day shipping with no minimum order value.

“As we designed the Zappos Rewards program, our goal was to take our customer service to the next level,” said Zappos COO Arun Rajan.

There are four tiers in the program: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and an invite-only Elite tier. Customers may redeem every 1,000 points earned for $1 in rewards codes, and receive 10 points per every $1 spent on a purchase. Customers also get points for logging into Zappos.com on any device, and for writing reviews.

To celebrate Zappos Rewards, Zappos surprised 1,000 customers at random by shipping customers one item from their ‘Favorites Wishlist.’ For a limited time, existing Zappos customers will also be able to receive a $15 Zappos Rewards code when they join the Zappos Rewards program.
