$4 Million Sneakers to be Auctioned Off for Soles4Souls

What makes a sneaker worth $4 million? To start, several hundred carats of white diamonds and blue sapphires set in 18k gold.

New York-based luxury lifestyle brand Bicion, co-founded by “Growing Up Hip-Hop” star Egypt Criss, tapped custom sneaker designer Dan Gamache of Mache Custom Kicks to design the world’s most expensive sneakers. The sneakers, a pair of Way Of Wade by Li Ning, will be auctioned off in New York City on March 29 to benefit Soles4Souls, the global non-profit that collects and distributes shoes and clothing for impoverished regions.

The pricey kicks, coined “The Fire Monkey” to celebrate the Chinese New Year, feature gems in a chrysanthemum pattern produced and designed exclusively by Bicion’s in-house jewelry engineers, and boast a solid gold hang tag with the embossed logos of both Bicion and Mache Customs.

A custom made glass box with a 18 karat gold base and LED lighting designed by boutique studio Looksee Designs in collaboration with Bicion houses the sneakers.

Mache Custom Kicks is widely considered to be one of the best custom sneaker companies in the business. On his partnership with Bicion and Soles4Souls, Gamache said, “To have the opportunity to design and create the most expensive sneaker in the world is a humbling opportunity. But to know that this sneaker will help put sneakers on kids across the globe is an amazing feeling. I love sneakers…to know kids are getting sneakers because of my work makes everything I have ever done worth it.”
