Super Bowl LI is shaping up to be a big game for shoe addicts.
In addition to anticipating what type of avant-garde footwear Lady Gaga may wear during her halftime performance, Microsoft is giving football (and footwear) fans the opportunity to be part of what happens on the field.
Microsoft will host the Custom Cleat Design Competition at its NFLX location in Houston, Texas from Jan. 28-31. Using Sketchable, a drawing app on Microsoft’s new Surface Studio and Surface Hub devices, fans can design cleats that will be worn on the field before the game.
New England Patriots cornerback and Super Bowl XLIX champion Malcolm Butler and Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman will select their favorite design and wear the customized cleats during their pre-game warmups prior to the big game.
World renowned cleat artist Marcus Rivero will create the cleats live at the Microsoft space on Feb. 2.
