Rihanna is taking us to school in her Fall ’17 Fenty Puma by Rihanna collection.
As her spring Marie Antoinette-meets-gym rat collection hits stores, Fenty Creative Director Rihanna and Puma presented a rebellious, ’90s-inspired take on varsity school fashion, on Tuesday at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in Paris.
Based on classic American school cliques, the collection’s footwear spanned creepers with stacked soles and ankle straps, high knit styles, over-the-knee-boots, translucent wedges, thigh-high cleat-inspired boots and exaggerated wellies.
“When I was in school, it was always my dream to be able to dress up in whatever I wanted,” said Rihanna in a press release. “But in Barbados it was mandatory to wear a school uniform, so I had so much fun this season creating these ‘Back to School’ inspired looks, and I’m honored to present the collection in such a majestic national monument.”
The footwear complemented the apparel line, with chunky knit sweaters, baggy pants, track suits and cheerleading-inspired ensembles adorned with Rihanna’s lucky number 13, her birth year 1988, unique patches, sporting taping and branded buttons.
The footwear, apparel and accessories collection presented in Paris will launch at retail stores worldwide in Fall 2017
