Assocalzaturifici: There’s More to theMicam Than Made In Italy

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

As strong markets like Russia begin to shrink, theMicam organizers are billing the Milan-based trade show as a source for companies to find new opportunities.

“In this situation, the trade fair remains an unmissable appointment for all those who are looking for an event that showcases both variety and quality products,” said Annarita Pilotti, chair of Assocalzaturifici, the Italian Footwear Manufacturers’ Association.

The next show, to be held Feb. 14-17, will feature a total of 1,444 exhibitors, including 816 Italian brands and 627 foreign companies.

While Made in Italy product continues to be a main draw, Pilotti noted that a number of top-quality international exhibitors will also be present, providing a “fascinating glimpse into different tastes and cultures.”

As a result of its diversified exhibitor list and consumers’ changing tastes, the show is expected to present a broad range of material, silhouette and color trends. To help retailers and brands navigate the new landscape, theMicam will host daily briefings for trade professionals which will focus on countries of interest, including the United States, China and Eastern Europe. The daily seminars will identify style trends in each market, as well as discuss the latest developments in selling techniques.
