Adidas opened a new flagship store Friday located in Chicago’s wicker Park neighborhood, marking the brand’s largest store worldwide.
The Chicago store boasts a 4,966 square-foot space designed to create a community-driven experience by focusing on Chicago-native artists and creators.
“The Adidas Originals flagship store in Chicago shows our ongoing commitment to exploring new and innovative ways to be part of the local community,” explains Pascha Naderi-Nejad, senior brand director, Adidas Originals. “Now our largest Adidas Originals store in the world, everything about it exemplifies how we partner with creators who have shared values and an ability to push the bounds of creativity. We’re continuously inspired by Chicago, and the store enables us to celebrate the pioneering culture and creativity the city has to offer.”
Furthering the brand’s move towards a community-feel, the new store will feature custom artwork and installations by local artists POSE and Tubsz. And, Chicago-based nonprofit, iPaintMyMind will showcase work from a number of local artists.
The artwork will live in the store on a rotational basis. Adidas’ new store will also feature a community wall, where people can find out about local happenings like upcoming events, shows and Adidas product releases.
In coordination with the new store, Adidas created a limited-edition EQT ADV Support Wicker Park sneaker, which are available to reserve exclusively through the Adidas Confirmed app for smart phones.
