Adidas by Stella McCartney is taking a step toward sustainability with the launch of Parley Ultraboost X, a new sneaker that combines designer Stella McCartney’s eco-cool approach to fashion with Adidas’ Parley Ocean Plastic yarn.
The sneaker is part of Adidas’ partnership with Parley for the Oceans, which sees marine plastic waste transformed into performance yarn. The sneakers feature Primeknit uppers made with the recycled yarn and an innovative lacing system for a sock-like fit.
The introduction of Parley Ocean Plastic yarn into the Adidas by Stella McCartney underlines McCartney’s commitment to ethical fashion. The designer is known for her leather-free fashion.
“I strongly believe in making clothing that is ethically created and built to last, and this is an ideology I channel into every single piece I design. For me, preserving and respecting the planet is fundamental to what I do and I always try to make an effort to consider that in my designs,” McCartney said in a statement. “I’m really impressed by the work Adidas and Parley for the Oceans do to create the materials used in our high-performance apparel and footwear.”
