Under Armour Announces Updated Smart Sneaker Collection

From new denim constructions, weights and washes to the steps global mills are taking to reduce impact, Rivet's SS23 In Season Look Book: Denim & Trims has everything you need to know for a successful denim season.

The march towards an augmented athlete continues as Under Armour gears up for their new collection of smart shoes that sync to your phone.

Under Armour announced the release of the brand’s newest digitally connected running shoes. The SpeedForm Gemini 3 RE, the SpeedForm Velociti RE and the SpeedForm Europa RE are the latest in Under Armour’s line of footwear with digital tools that link to the brands mobile app MapMyRun, all designed to enhance the consumers running experience.

The additions will expand the features available from Under Armour’s first smart shoe, the SpeedForm Gemini 2, released earlier this year. Features include detailed workout stats like running cadence, real-time pace information and the mileage lifetime of the shoe. Under Armour plans to more than double their sales of smart footwear within 2017 citing footwear as a major growth driver for the brand.

“Footwear is a crucial performance weapon for runners, and what we at Under Armour have placed at the forefront of our innovation pipeline,” said Kevin Haley, Under Armour president of category management and innovation. “We’re excited to follow the success of our first smart shoe with this robust global roll-out of connected footwear to help athletes around the world maximize their training.”

The new line of smart shoes will retail for $140-$160 and will be available for pre-order on Under Armour’s website beginning Jan. 5.
