The year 2015 will go down in history as the year of athleisure, at least according to new findings by Polyvore, which just published its annual report highlighting the biggest trends among the site’s millions of users.
Nike and Adidas were by far the ‘Most Liked’ brands of 2015, beating out nearest rivals Converse and Vans by hefty margins. Luxury brands like Givenchy, Christian Louboutin and Fendi also fared well, part of a revival for luxury apparel as a whole, which surged ahead of fast fashion brands like H&M and Zara, who dominated last year.
Stella McCartney rode the athleisure bandwagon all the way to the bank with her Adidas collection, and was named the most popular designer of 2015 by the site, followed by Tory Burch and Alexander Wang. In the footwear sector Marc Jacobs continued to pull in the searches for its popular mouse flat, helping push the company to sixth overall on the ranking.
The gladiator sandal was the most searched style of shoe for 2015, ranking in the top 10 for most searched items by all women 18-54 years old. In the dressier end, Valentino’s Rockstud shoe reigned supreme for women over 45, while lace-up heels topped the search of women 18-24 years old.
