Timed to the one-year anniversary of Scott Jurek’s Appalachian trail achievement, the Cascadia 2189 re-imagines the Cascadia in shades of grey, orange, blue and yellow, featuring a gold outline of the trail Jurek ran on and his signature on the heel.
To commemorate the 2,189 miles of the trail for which the shoe is named, only 2,189 pairs have been made. Each shoe features an outsole made with recycled rubber from the shoes Jurek wore during his speed record, and each insole is numbered, identifying it as one of the 2,189 pairs.
The Cascadia 2189 is available now in the U.S. for $160 at Brooks Running’s website and at select retailers. It will be released in Japan on Aug. 15 and in France on Aug. 22. Brooks Running also promises that $5 from the sale of each shoe will go to the National Parks Foundation to help enhance parks and protect outdoor spaces.
