Caleres Wins Recognition for LGBTQ Workplace Equality

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

Caleres, parent company to Sam Edelman, Allen Edmonds, Vince, Via Spiga and more, received a perfect score on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national bench-marking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

The company won out over 947 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices, like non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Caleres scored 100 percent and won the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.

“It’s an important honor for us to again be amongst the businesses achieving 100 percent on the corporate equality index,” said Doug Koch, Caleres senior vice president and chief human resources officer. “We believe our company should be as diverse as the consumers we serve and we are proud to be recognized on this level for that.”
