California Dreaming is more than just a song. It is now also the name of a mural by artist Ricardo Gonzalez commissioned by shoe brand, Chinese Laundry. The company celebrated its 35th anniversary last year with more than $1 billion in sales, and recently decided to liven up its headquarters.
Gonzalez, who goes by ‘It’s A Living’ in the art world, painted a three story, 75-foot-wide painting on the headquarters’ outside wall for the commute-heavy city to see.
The artwork shows a sunset-like palette with large curving letters spelling the name of the mural, ‘California Dreaming.’
Gonzalez previously worked with the likes of Nike, Google, LuluLemon and Coca-Cola.
The mural was inspired by Chinese Laundry’s new look and rebranding, mirroring the feminine, modern aspects of the collections. The new marketing campaign, new website design and new products rolling out this month and into March.
