G-III and Macy’s Signs Deal for DKNY Women’s Footwear

Macy’s and apparel and accessories manufacturer and distributor, G-III, announced Monday that Macy’s will act as the exclusive U.S. department store for sales of DKNY’s women’s footwear, clothing and accessories starting February 2018.

The agreement states that Macy’s will exclusively sell DKNY women’s shoes, apparel and handbags, along with men’s outerwear and swim. Macy’s and G-III plan to work together to extend the brand and build on DKNY’s established presence through increasing DKNY shop-in-shops within Macy’s stores.

“We want to create partnerships that offer our customers products and experiences that they can find only at Macy’s, and DKNY is a fashion-first brand we know our customers love,” said Jeff Gennette, Macy’s president and CEO. “By offering exclusive access in key categories, we are confident that DKNY will quickly become one of our top brands. Their remarkable global recognition combined with our expansive footprint make Macy’s and DKNY a perfect partnership.”

G-III plans to keep operating freestanding DKNY stores around the world and online, along with maintaining DKNY’s agreements internationally and licensees under different categories. Other categories in the DKNY brand will continue to be sold in various retailers, including Macy’s.

“We believe that Macy’s is the ideal partner as we implement our strategy for DKNY to be the premier brand in the world for women’s apparel and accessories,” said Morris Goldfarb, G-III chairman CEO. “We have worked well with Macy’s in the past with respect to our portfolio of brands and we are confident that this partnership with Macy’s will help DKNY flourish and capture market share.”
