Forget dollar pizza. Fila is celebrating another New York food icon in its latest sneaker pack, released over the weekend.
In a collaboration with Crown Heights-based sneaker boutique Alumni, Fila debuted a new sneaker inspired by Jamaican beef patties, a tasty, portable treat found at many bodegas across New York City.
Dressed in a yellow pigskin suede upper, The Alumni x Fila Overpass “Beef Patty” features a debossed design on the toe-box trim similar to that of the beef patty crust, while the translucent outsole is illustrated with an all-over beef patty print.
“With this collaboration, our mission was to capture the spirit of the neighborhoods we call home by sharing a treat we eat too often. After all, you are what you eat,” said Jaeki Cho of Alumni.
