Finally, a Documentary for Us Shoe-Lovers

The legendary footwear designer Manolo Blahnik is finally getting his break on the big screen via a new documentary featuring some of fashion’s biggest players.

Manolo (The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards), distributed by Content Media and set to debut next month in Berlin at the European Film Market, will take an in-depth look at the fashion designer’s life, examining a man who’s namesake heels have become a global phenomenon.

Interviews with fashion and entertainment big wigs including Anna Wintor, Rihanna, Andre Leon Talley, Paloma Picasso, Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell, Charlotte Olympia, Iman, Jamie Preto, Naomi Campbell, David Bailey, Isaac Mizrahi, Joan Burnstein, and Mary Beard, among numerous others, all feature in the new film.

Production of the flick is currently underway according to The Hollywood Reporter, who spoke with Content film president Jamie Carmichael about the project.

“Manolo Blahnik is fashion royalty and the king of his craft,” said Carmichael. “He also happens to be a wonderfully colorful and fascinating man, with a unique world view. Michael Roberts is a director with unparalleled access and understanding of the fashion world and the combination of both these golden elements will make for fabulous and fascinating cinema.”
