Footwear Prices Firm in January

After four consecutive months of decline, footwear prices firmed a bit in January, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The footwear CPI (consumer price index) edged up by .3% year-over year, in contrast to apparel’s almost one percent drop in average prices.

Within footwear, men’s prices dropped by .5%, while women’s rose by almost one percent, and children’s prices remained flat.
