GDS is moving its summer 2016 show dates to July 26-28, a more retail-friendly Tuesday-Thursday schedule.
Show management made the decision to shift its regular Wednesday-Friday format to mid-week to better accommodate retailers’ schedules. Friday tends to be a high sales day for footwear retailers.
In a statement, Messe Düsseldorf President and CEO Werner Matthias Dornscheidt, said, “In in-depth conversations with our advisory board we have decided to change the weekdays for the event. We want to constantly optimize the trade shows GDS and tag it! for retail. By opting for the new sequence of days we will avoid the Friday which is one of the days generating the highest retail sales.”
He added, “This means retailers can optimally use these three days without having to decide between a trade show visit and a sales day in the store.”
The next edition of GDS takes place Feb. 10-12.
