The Look @ GDS: Tone Up

When it comes to sustainability, there is no way forward without a plan. Attend our in-person “Sustainability Summit: Road to 2030” June 1 in NYC. Learn from the industry’s best and brightest, and network to create those necessary partnerships!

“Less is more” is one of the most abused sayings in fashion, but it rings true for the crop of tonal footwear springing up for next season.

At GDS, held July 26-28 in Düsseldorf, Germany, men’s and women’s brands strutted oxfords, sneakers and heels in a menagerie of skin tones and their metallic counterparts. The result was a range of footwear as impactful as previous seasons’ taste for kaleidoscope designs.

In sneakers, the influence of Kanye West’s Yeezy collections was evident, as brands focused on all-over peach, beige and sand colorways. Flecks of glitter and sequins added depth and whimsy to women’s sneakers and oxfords.

Women’s dress shoes and sandals were highlighted with delicate gold hardware, liquid-like ribbon and coated espadrille bottoms. The end result is pure luxe.
