Footwear organizations are combining efforts to give back to their home away from home, Las Vegas.
FN Platform and Project Sole, along with the Two Ten Footwear Foundation, will team up with the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Nevada to host a shoe and apparel donation event for local children on Feb. 16, the first day of the footwear trade show.
The fitting event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club. New product donated by Timberland, Keen, Born, Skechers and more will be available.
Leslie Gallin, UBM Advanstar president of footwear, said FN Platform is always working to find ways to support footwear related charities. Project Sole, which organizes a variety of events to help the footwear community and others get involved, was a perfect match, she said, noting that the organization even shares a name with another show under the MAGIC umbrella, Project.
Gallin added, “FN Platform represents the footwear industry, who as you may know are the most philanthropic group of people. Everyone needs shoes. As stewards for the industry, FN Platform and Project Sole feel it is our duty to provide protection for all.”
Show exhibitors will have an opportunity to help at the event. FN Platform will providing shuttles from the Las Vegas Convention Center to the club. Any brands interested in participating must meet in the South Hall entrance no later than 9 a.m.
