Helped by Men’s, Footwear Prices Rise in March

Thank you for joining Sourcing Journal & industry leaders at our SOURCING SUMMIT NY, as we discussed the most pressing issues of the day. View the Summit on demand through Jan. 2, and stay tuned for the upcoming Companion Report.

Footwear prices continued their recent increasing trend in March, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The footwear CPI (consumer price index) edged up by .4 percent year-over-year. Though not as big a jump as February’s almost 2 percent increase, it represents the third straight month of price increases.

Within footwear, however, different patterns emerged. Men’s prices increased the most, rising 3.4 percent, while women’s prices dropped by one percent and children’s were virtually flat.
