Canadian footwear designer John Fluevog is celebrating the 150-year anniversary of his home country with two limited-edition shoes that exemplify Canadian pride.
The anniversary collection re-imagines two of John Fluevog’s most popular styles with custom leather soles and maple leaf-inspired brogue details. Both styles honor the Canadian flag with a white and red colorway and feature a whimsical drawing of a beaver on the outsole of each shoe.
In honor of 150 years of Canada, only 150 pairs of each style are available.
“I’m incredibly proud to be Canadian and it’s a wonderful thing to be celebrating 150 years of being a nation,” Fluevog said, adding, “I just thought, an unforgettable anniversary deserves a few unforgettable shoes.”
Canada begins a four-day anniversary celebration on Wednesday. Toronto-based Bata Shoe Museum got into the celebratory mood early, launching last month with an exhibit of footwear worn by famous Canadians.
The John Fluevog collection is available in John Fluevog’s Canada stores, select U.S. stores and online. Shoes retail for $279-$299.
