Keen Hires Apple Alum to Manage Brand Marketing

Keen is poaching talent from Apple. The outdoor and lifestyle footwear company announced Wednesday the hire of Tyler LaMotte as the company’s first-ever global vice president of brand marketing.

Prior to Keen, LaMotte served as Apple’s senior marketer, worldwide product marketing. He also worked at Patagonia as global business unit director for snowsports, performance baselayer, trail running, and accessories, and Adidas as the global director of action sports.

In the newly created role, LaMotte will lead and oversee Keen’s global marketing efforts and messaging across all product categories to extend the reach of the brand across its retail channels and consumer fanbase. Recently, the Portland, Ore.-based company has amplified its voice for environmental causes, including the launch of its Live Monumental campaign, an initiative to save three million acres of public lands.

LaMotte’s two-plus decades of experience in brand marketing and proven track record will give Keen a jolt of branding momentum. He is the latest in executive team hires at Keen over the last 18 months. Earlier this year, the company welcomed Christy Saito as vice president, global product merchandising, outdoor and lifestyle, and Rob Langstaff as vice president, international.

In a statement, Keen President Steve Meineke said, “We are thrilled to have Tyler join Keen and round out our talented team as we continue to build the next chapter of the Keen brand, working closely with our retail partners and global channels to deliver exceptional brand experiences to our fans.”
