Actress Vanessa Hudgens and Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteers surprised the students and teachers of Accelerated Schools in Los Angeles with a donation of 2,000 new Nike shoes last week.

Known for her roles in “High School Musical” and Fox’s presentation of “Grease Live,” Hudgens greeted students as they received new pairs of Nike sneakers and spoke to them during Kohl’s surprise assembly.

Kohl’s donation was a part of their commitment to AdoptAClassroom.org, in which they have promised a minimum donation of $250,000 and a maximum of $1 million for this year’s back-to-school season. The retailer hopes by providing each student of Accelerated Schools a pair of sneakers, they will be more prepared for the school year ahead.

In addition, Kohl’s donated a $600 “Adopt a Classroom” gift card to each of the 83 teachers of the K-12 grade school in order to buy classroom supplies for the year.
