A new player is entering the men’s sandal business.
Beach lifestyle brand Malvados is expanding its festival-inspired footwear collection to include two men’s styles for Spring ’18. The brand will debut the collection at Swim Collective in Huntington Beach, Calif. on July 11.
The season introduces a men’s version of the brand’s popular women’s Playa, a one-piece molded EVA with toe pillow, designed for extra cushioned comfort and support, and a diamond textured footbed, offered for breathability and traction. The men’s Playa will be offered in five neutral colors, including as asphalt, marine, slate, cargo and desert.
The Jack style will be offered in three earthy tones and will feature a high-quality suede leather strap and footbed with a comfortable rubber EVA sponge outsole.
Coming from a successful first year with the women’s line, Malvados Co-Founder and Creative Director Jennifer Rainnie said she was encouraged by retailers to expand into men’s. “We thought this would be the perfect addition because behind every great woman, there might be a man, and he needs flip-flops too,” she said.
The men’s sandals will retail for $23-$50.
