There’s Now a Nike Shoebox that Doubles as a Safe

Join Sourcing Journal on March 13th HKT for Sourcing Summit Hong Kong for discussions on mending relationships between supply chain partners, remaking factories for smaller MOQs and faster turns, and creating resilience to survive the next inevitable crisis.

What’s a sneakerhead with a growing collection of rare and expensive shoes supposed to do to keep his or her valuables safe? Well, there’s always the old shoebox. But if cardboard alone isn’t enough protection, a new concept for a shoebox safe is promising extra security.

The Mandem Safe is constructed from five-millimeter-thick folded steel, with a cardboard exterior meant to mimic a Nike shoebox. A cam lock in one of the side holes allows for access to the items locked inside, while pre-drilled holes in the base allow you to secure the safe directly to the floor.

But before you go looking for your credit card, the Mandem Safe is currently only a prototype, although interested parties can submit their information through the maker’s website for the chance to become one of the first to own one.
