Mizuno Introduces New ‘Cloudwave’ Technology to Wave Rider 20

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

Mizuno is celebrating the shoe that first put it on the map, the Wave Rider, with a redesign for its 20th iteration.

The Wave Rider 20 reimagines Mizuno’s signature running shoe with increased cushioning while retaining the same familiar fit and feel Wave Rider fans have come to know.

“We took a look at where the Wave Rider could use the most improvements, and we carefully engineered those—along with evolutionary and thoughtful design – into the Wave Rider 20,” said Todd Lewis, running footwear and design VP at Mizuno USA. “Long-time Wave Rider loyalists will appreciate the familiar fit and feel provided by new cloudwave technology in the midsole, while newcomers will enjoy a more accommodating upper and forgiving ride than what we’ve offered with this shoe in the past.”

An upgrade from Mizuno’s original Wave technology, the Wave Rider 20 features the company’s new Cloudwave technology, introducing new convex geometry to provide a softer, smoother ride. The shoe also includes more cushioning to lessen heel impact, providing better guidance in the transition from heel to forefoot.

Available in multiple colorways for men and women, the Wave Rider 20 is available now, retailing for $119.99.
